The Way of the Superior Man Audible Audio Edition David Deida Cecil Archbold Sounds True Books Reviews
- This book is absolutely illuminating.
It can change your life.
It changed mine.
After a very turbulent upbringing I learned how to forgive my family + myself & was ready for the next step.
The Way of... inspired me to take action & be the energy that they can trust to follow by sharing my purpose & love.
I ended up contacting my mom/sister for the first time in ten years & opened the door wide open for the real work to begin.
The chapters are brief yet precise which makes it easy to read.
Scan the table of contents and jump to a sentence that speaks to you.
These were some of mine.
pg. 17 "Live with an open heart even if it hurts"
pg. 27 "Your purpose must come before your relationship"
pg. 106 "Choose a woman who chooses you"
Something this book taught me
Imagine our tribal ancestors sitting in a field somewhere with the sun setting.
One of them starts rounding everyone together and points toward the forest in the distance
"Listen everyone its going to be dark soon! We're going over there to chop down those trees and then build a fire!
I'll take our strongest & fastest to hunt some deer after that! Any questions?"
His energy is literally shouting "I know what to do! Follow me! Nothing can stop us!"
If he does anything to compromise that energy he's undermining his own core.
Which weakens his image ie. integrity, respect & trust from others
No one wants to follow a coward into the dark.
Being overtly lazy, gossiping, arguing and getting distracted
versus being totally open, present, passionate & loving.
Imagine this man fighting with his women on the way to chop down the trees
versus comforting her with the sheer confidence of his purpose.
His purpose comes his core. A core that is full of strength, courage & an unstoppable love for everyone.
"May this book serve the liberation of your true gifts, so that countless multitudes of being may benefit from your living & loving." - David Deida
- Mason R. - I bought this book five months ago, read only the introduction and tossed it aside. At that time I was not ready for wealth of knowledge that this gift was truly endowed with. It was as If it was literally calling to me because I was finally ready. If you're close minded, skeptical, clinging to only the material world, then this book isn't for you. But if you're looking to dive into the unknown, the metaphysical, achieve higher consciousness, then this book will open your eyes and give you clear direction. I love this book especially because it has so much to say with so few words. After reading this short book you will feel like you absorbed an ocean of knowledge and insight. You'll have no regrets.
- There are those personal growth books that one reads and applies to his/her life and grow from that. This book,is a exceptional, having just read it,I can tell this is not just a game changer,it's life itself game changer, for how can a book have powerful insights that notes need to be taken, after each chapter, I myself, break down what it means and how I can bring into my life.
I will say that that the title, will tick off a few,let it, it is subtle way of how to be that man in every way, the friend, the worker, the lover and yourself,in a life conscious way, to be that someone you knew, deep down you knew but couldn't articulate it, to be yourself, the man you are.
Divided in parts, Mr. Deida gives insight how just how to be the man you need to be,one of my favorite chapters is to be driven by your purpose, without purpose a man is a sailboat,at the mercy of the tides and waves, this of course is a allegory for those,"little things" that make a day go by oh so much faster, games, social media, sort of the on the spot water cooler technology that while may be fun,it zaps your soul and drives you away from you meant to do and be and once one's establish your purpose then the woman in one's life becomes that beacon, that divine light that gets you were you need to be,that was a eye opener to say the least. But my favorite is to praise your woman, it's the feminine energy needing that masculine energy to make love and life itself a journey to savoy.
One of the best growth books I've have read and can't wait to read it again and again and yes take notes on it. - I read with interest the negative reviews of this book. They seemed most concerned with the author's lack of academic credentials, and with this book's supposed "misogyny".
On the first point, I would suggest that the author's academic credentials are irrelevant. The crucial thing is whether his views help you out or not. If they do, great. If they don't, that's a pity. And for a lot of guys (and their women), the concepts expressed by Deida here have been a great help. I would also point out that I have read a lot of relationship books authored by people with all the academic credentials, and those credentials are no guarantee that the author has anything sensible or worthwhile to impart. When my own marriage was in trouble, I arranged for my then-wife and I to visit a number of well-credentialed marital therapists, and most of them were useless. So again - credentials schmedentials. What matters is what works.
On the second point, I happen to know several women personally who are huge fans of this book. I notice also that quite a number of the glowing reviews here were written or endorsed by women. How can that be, if this book is a hate-filled screed against women?
The answer is, it can't be, and the accusation that this book is "misogynist" is absurd. It is also pernicious, in that it cheapens the value of that serious word through misapplication.
The truth is that there are a lot of enduring truths expressed in this book, and most men will be better off for having read it. According to one relative of mine, this book "saved his marriage", and it might have done the same for mine, if I'd discovered it earlier.
